What is a Passport/Travel Document Number?

A Passport Travel Document Number is a unique identifier assigned to each passport issued by a government.

It is usually printed on the passport’s data page and consists of nine digits, which are used for identification purposes when traveling internationally.

The number can be found in different places depending on the type of passport being used, but it will always be located near the photograph or personal information section.

How do I update my new passport number in an I94 document?

You can’t and don’t need to. The I-94 indicates the status you were admitted to and the date you were admitted, and that status is not tied to a passport, and getting a new passport does not affect your status or I-94.

Electronic I-94s issued by CBP on entry can be looked up using the passport number used at that entry, but that is purely to allow you to look it up. The passport number isn’t a part of your status or the I-94.

Which document is 8013 for passport verification?

I just called the passport office call center to request these documents for my visit. Here is what they have told me.

8013 – Matriculation certificate

8155 – Aadhar card

God knows who designs their processes! How on earth do they expect people to know these codes?

What does the first Letter on an Indian passport number denote?

The first Letter indicates the year of the issue. And from my observation ….I would put the correspondence as

G —- 2007–08

H—- 2008–09

I——2009–10

J——2010–11

K——2011–12

L——2012–13

M—2013–14

N—-2014–15

O —-2015–16

P—-2016–17

R—-2017–18

S— 2018–19

I think these apply to standard passports of 36 pages

Then there are passports starting with Z, which I dont know, but one of my friends who got a Z passport on the same day his wife got a P ( 2016–17 ) had applied for a 60-page passport …So it could be that the Z category is for passports which are not standard.

As I said, this is based on the study list of the passports of my travel group. I could be incorrect.

What is a series number on a passport?

Passport numbers can be up to 9 characters long – normally, about 8–9 characters are used. The content of these characters is not defined in the standard and is left to the discretion of the individual countries.

Typically, most of those characters are digits, growing by 1 with every passport. Some countries will use alphabetic characters for the first 1–2 positions.

So that you have a passport number like AB1234567, when this is done, those first 1–2 characters are called the series. Of course, there are no conventions on the choice of these characters. One country might decide that series A means regular passports, series B is double-thickness regular passports; series C means diplomatic passports, and so on.

How do I get my passport with only two documents?

From 22 December 2016, the Passport Department of India has added new rules and regulations for the documents submitted for applying for a New Passport.

Hence, Below are the Required Documents for applying for a New Fresh Passport Online or Offline.

1. Document Required for Address Proof

Since the Government has officially approved an Aadhar card as a legal document and almost every person must have an Aadhar card, the document for address proof is an Aadhar card.

2. Document Required for Date of Birth proof.

Since you gave an Aadhar card as your address proof, we can use the same document for the Date of Birth proof. Hence, we can give an Aadhar card as Proof of Date of Birth. Hence, the document for the Date of Birth is the Aadhar card.

3. Document Required for Non-ECR

Now, Non-ECR stands for No Immigration Check Required, meaning when you enter other countries, they will not check further.

So, the documents for NonECR are as follows:

1 10th or 12th Pass certificate

2. Degree certificate

3. Certificate of vocational courses

4. Income tax return of last year.

5. Government employees certificate.

6. Marriage certificate.

If you have yet to attend school, you can apply for ECR. Hence, you don’t have to submit any documents for ECR.

Hence, if you are applying for ECR, You can get your passport with only one document.

And if you are applying for NON-ECR, You can get your passport with only two documents.

Can I submit different documents other than those specified during the passport process?

Yes, you can submit any document you want, which is not specified during the passport process.

Will you get the passport, or will passport authorities accept those documents……..!

What do the passport numbers mean?

Your passport number is a serial number that uniquely identifies the booklet, so if the same person is issued two passports (most countries allow this), the numbers will be different.

Since the onset of electronic passports, which have a contactless chip with all the information about the passport holder, most countries have started randomizing passport numbers. The chip is encrypted to protect passports from identity theft, and the “password” that needs input is a combination of issue date, date of birth, and passport number.

If passport numbers were not randomized, the issue date would be predictable (and vice-versa), and the password would be easier to guess.

Can we get a passport number if we know a passport file number?

No, as the File number is related and restricted to that particular Passport office for their internal reference number.

The Passport number is allocated centrally by the MEA Division. So, wait if you have processed your file. You will get the passport number by the message on the mobile number when your passport is despatched to the provided address.

Conclusion: What is the “document number” for a passport?

The “document number” for a passport is a unique identification number assigned to the passport by the issuing government. It is typically printed on the cover or inside the front cover of the passport and is used to identify the specific passport document.

The document number is typically a series of letters and numbers used to distinguish the passport from other documents issued by the same government. It is an important security feature that helps to prevent fraud and identity theft.

It’s the number that the State Department uses to identify you, just as your driver’s license has a “document number” and you have a Social Security number.
