If you need digital pictures, you can use the picture kiosk. You can bring in your media (SD card, USB cable, etc.) or use the Fuji film photo app and Walmart’s wifi to upload them to the kiosk. 

There is a one-hour kiosk and an instant print kiosk usually. You upload, edit, and put in your information. Then, you get a printout of your order with an ETA. You scan the Barcode on this printout at the kiosk to pick up your photos later.

Why does Walmart’s Photo Center take two hours to print pictures?

The instant print kiosks allow you to print pictures within minutes, but only if you print 4×6-sized pictures.

Otherwise, you will need to use the “one-hour” machine.

The time it takes to print those pictures depends on several factors, like several orders ahead of yours, staffing of the photo area, and whether or not paper/ink needs to be replenished. 

Once an order is placed (if everything goes ideally,) it’s about 4 minutes until the printer processes the order, and then about 5–10 seconds per picture. After that, you must account for at least 2 minutes to package and price the order. This would be the fastest possible time.

All variables considered the fastest possible time isn’t all that likely. And if your photos take significantly longer than the one-hour promise, I would suspect the photo centre was either understaffed or there is a problem with the printer itself.

I suggest finding a manager and letting them know that more staff is needed. Not just today but in general. And take the survey from the receipt and tell them more staff is needed. 

Understaffing is a problem across all departments in almost every Walmart, so requesting/suggesting more employees is always helpful. In the meantime, try to be kind to those there.

Are Walgreens photo prints good quality?

Amateur photo labs like Walgreens are good for everyday snapshots. Their printers produce highly saturated prints with higher-than-normal contrast. 

This means your landscape pictures will be snappy (high contrast) and colourful (high saturation), but portraits may look overly coloured and harsh. I suspect the quality control varies from location to location as well. I suggest printing a sample of your photos and deciding if you like the results.

A pro photo lab will have better quality control, a greater selection of paper surfaces, and saturation better attuned to portraits.

Sure enough. That’s the preferred mode. Back in the day, when I developed my film at home, I cut my negatives into strips. This made making a “contact sheet” possible, as you see here.

It’s also much easier to slip into a negative carrier. You can even deal with single negatives, which you usually get back in carriers when your transparency film is processed. I did all my colour printing back in the 1970s, using Cibachrome media and Kodachrome or Ektachrome film.
